This picture is of two of my classmates posing next to a plan tree each. The principle of balance is portrayed by the symmetry between the two palm trees being in the middle as well as on of my classmates on each side. This photo is successful because it clearly portrays the symmetry on each side of the photo. This photo is of my partner/model/friend, she is standing in the middle of the RBV logo in the middle of the football field. The principle of proportion is portrayed through Morgan being in the middle of the logo. This photo is successful because the photo is displaying how big the logo is. This photo is of Mr. Leary and a team stretching all at once. This photo represents the principle of rhythm through the students. This photo is somewhat successful because the students are either standing up or moving which indicates the students are moving, creating rhythm. This photo is of my phone that has a sticker of "Drugs Stink" on the back while the phone being in between palm tree leaves. The principle of emphasis is being put on the sticker that is behind my phone. This photo is successful because the color of red on the sticker grabs the viewers attention because this color is different but it also conveys a message that is related to Red Ribbon week. This photo is of a bush that is next to the visitor side of the bleachers that was taken using a worms eye view angle. The principle of harmony is in the bush and the trees behind the bush. This photo is successful because the colors of the bush and the trees as well as the floor seem to go from a very dark tone to a lighter tone as it blends in with the sky. This is a photo of Morgan going to the bathroom by the 700's. The principle of variety is in the decision that Morgan decides to choose. This photo is successful because Morgan is going into a boys bathroom when she is a girl and that is something that you don't see everyday. This is a picture of a band player that is playing the drums behind the band room. The principle of unity is being portrayed in what the band player is using to play his instrument. This photo is somewhat successful because the band player is using a flute to hit the drums which would not usually happen but the photo has a music theme and the colors also blend in together.
This is a picture of a rail behind the gym and the band room. This photo represents line because it shows the rail going towards the back of the band room and it directs the viewer's focus on both sides of the rail. This is a photo of a flower next to the visitor bleachers of the football stadium. This photo represents color because the flower is in the middle and the color is standing out and is different from the rest of the picture. This photo represents the element of shape because the corner makes the shape of a triangle as well as the rail lines in the background make up rectangles. This photo is somehow successful because the image represents shape but not 100% clear. This photo represents the element of form because the plant in the middle has shadows that make the plant look 3D. This photo is successful because the i made the photo black and white in order to highlight the shadows that the plant lays off on the ground. This photo represents the element of texture because the photo is focused on the grass and the grass itself has a texture. This photo is successful because everyone has felt grass at least once in their life and this picture helps people relive that memory. This photo represents the element of space because the photo is focused on the dandelion and everything other than the dandelion is faded out. This is successful because the dandelion is the center, therefore making it the main purpose of the photo. I took this picture as I laid down on the ground by the football field and this photo represents the element of value because it displays the different shades of green form light to dark green as well as the shadows from underneath the plants.
I took these pictures with the shutter speed being 1/4000th of a second, meaning that all motion will be stopped in the picture. Fast objects will appear to be stopped. One of the struggles that i dealt with is that the picture would take too long and the scene that i was trying to photograph would pass. I learned that the shutter speed has a big impact on how sharp the image will appear as well as if you want to capture an object in motion. The last thing I learned is that shutter speed can be changed and so will the photo and the picture can come out with a ghosts like figure.
RESPECT
First off, I had four initial ideas that I wanted to pursue into my project that would reflect the theme of “Respect Yourself”. The four main ideas I had were : the first idea I had was to have my partner salute with her marine uniform and later I would Photoshop the American flag in the back, the second idea was to simply have the American flag in the front of the school and outline the red strips in bright red, the other idea I had was to have my partner with a bright smile in the middle of the RBV logo in the football field, the last and my personal favorite is to have my partner in the library while having them read a book and outline the book red. Ultimately I chose to do the one of my partner in the library and her reading a book. I decided to choose this photo because the theme is to display a photograph that shows someone respecting his/her self. This photograph of my partner reading a book shows how she is respecting herself because she is choosing to get an education. She is choosing to get an education instead of goofing off. In order for the light painting to work, the room had to be completely dark with no light to contaminate the picture. The camera would have to be put on a shutter speed of 6 seconds which would make the picture take some time to take the actual and final picture. During this time period we were able to "draw" using the light. One and probably the only struggle i had was to make the picture that i wanted, trying to instruct my partner to do something and sometimes the picture would not come out as i expected it to be. The most important things i learned about light painting is the importance of shutter speed, how we can do amazing things with a dark room, lights and a 6 second shutter speed. Some other ideas i could do with light painting is try to maybe expand the shutter speed, that way i have more time to draw my painting and maybe it would be better to do one big painting involving the whole class.
